審査講評（二次審査員）58Young artists submitted a range of fine works to the contest this year as always. The Covid-19 pandemic seems to have prompted children to develop insights toward a brighter future and express their thoughts energetically on canvas. All the submissions represented the enjoyment and struggles of the artists behind them, which made judging very difficult. Against this background, true congratulations are due to the winners. Regardless of winning status, entrants should keep drawing and express their thoughts, hopes and ambitions with purpose in next year’s contest.It’s wonderful that the World Children’s Picture Contest was able to go ahead again in spite of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Although children’s artworks may not necessarily represent the aesthetics of specific nations, as an artist I enjoyed looking at the contest’s submissions and realized that the use of particular colors and shapes are often unique to cultures and nations.I learned a lot from the input of other specialist judges regarding art education in other countries and in schools abroad, which really helped me appreciate the artworks.Artist Insights for a Brighter Future with Robust Thoughts Expressed on CanvasArtist Perspectives, Thoughts, Feelings and Artistic Schemes 今年も多くの国々からたくさんの子どもたちの描いた絵が届きました。とくに、今回は世界中どこの国でもコロナ禍でたいへんな状況でありながら、子どもたちは明るい未来を見すえ、力強く、自分たちの思いを画面いっぱいに表現してくれました。毎年のことながら、どれもこれも優劣をつけるのが難しく、楽しくのびのびと描く姿や、悪戦苦闘する様子が伺える作品ばかりでした。その中でも、入選された皆さんおめでとうございます。惜しくも今回入選できなかった子どもたちも、次回の入選を目指して、自らのいろいろな思いや希望、願いを描いてください。 新型コロナウィルスによる世界の混乱がいまだ続くなか、「世界こども図画コンテスト」の実施を嬉しく思います。 子どもの絵だけを見てその国の美意識を語ることはもちろんできませんが、さまざまな国の特有の色や形に対する意識に気づく瞬間も増え、１人の美術家として楽しく作品を拝見しました。専門家である審査員諸先生にさまざまな国の美術教育の考え方や、日本以外の学校生活の話をお聞きしながら作品を見るのも興味深く、勉強になります。 今回もたくさんの力作に出会えました。作品に対する美術家としての好みはもちろんありますが、それよりも作者が持つ視線や考え方、それらを絵に込める思いや工夫が伝わる作品を評価しました。明るい未来を見すえ、力強く、自分たちの思いを画面いっぱいに表現作者が持つ視線や考え方、それらを絵に込める思いや工夫加か藤とう 敬たかし東京国立近代美術館館長海え老び 洋よう東京藝術大学准教授KATO Takashi Director-General, The National Museum of Modern Art, TokyoEBI YoAssociate Professor, Tokyo University of the ArtsOnce again I encountered a number of works that I considered masterpieces.
