2栗原 隆政一般社団法人 家の光協会 代表理事会長On the Publication of The 29th Annual World Children’s Picture Contest Commemorative Book of Winners第２9回「世界こども図画コンテスト」入選作品集の発刊にあたってKURIHARA TakamasaPresident, IE-NO-HIKARI AssociationThe IE-NO-HIKARI Association, a member of the Japan Agricultural Co-operatives (JA) is a public services corporation dedicated to the cultural enhancement of rural communities through monthly magazines, other publications, and cultural activities. And we are also a member of the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) and the International Raiffeisen Union (IRU), promotes international knowledge and exchanges of goodwill.This contest was originally organized in 1954 to mark the 30th anniversary of the magazine Ie-no-Hikari, and was initially based on the concept of exchanging pictures between friends all over the world. Since 1993, this cultural event has been run in its current form as The Annual World Children’s Picture Contest to promote awareness of the importance of nature and agriculture, encourage friendship and goodwill among children around the world and help them develop well-rounded characters. This year marks our 29th Annual Contest, and we received artworks nearly 10,000 pieces from 50 nations and regions including Japan. For 29 years since the competition’s inception, artworks from as many as 138 nations have been contributed, representing about 70 percent of all the world’s nations and regions.Covid-19 has caused many schools and educational institutes to close, shorten classes or operate online, and international postal services have been impaired. Even against this challenging background, the number of submissions this year has increased. We are deeply moved by the resilience of the contest entrants.We would like to express our sincere appreciation to those who have helped children to participate in the contest, art teachers, cooperative associations, and school and embassy staff from all over the world.We hope this commemorative book inspires children to broaden their view of the world, and that it helps them to cultivate a friendly and cooperative spirit. 家の光協会は、日本のJA（農業協同組合）グループの一員として、月刊誌や単行本の出版および各種文化活動をとおして、農山漁村の文化の向上をめざす一般社団法人です。 また、本会は国際協同組合同盟（ICA）ならびに国際ライファイゼン連盟（IRU）に加盟し、世界各国との交流・国際知識の普及に努めています。 このコンテストは、1954年の『家の光』創刊30周年記念事業の一つ「世界のお友達との交換図画」を源流にもち、1993年からは「世界こども図画コンテスト」として、世界のこどもたちに自然や農業のたいせつさに気づいてもらうとともに、友好・親善と豊かな人間性を育むことを目的に実施しています。 第29回を迎えた今回は、日本を含めた50の国と地域から、約10,000点の作品が寄せられました。この29年間で応募があった国と地域は138で、世界にある国と地域の約７割から応募があったことになります。 今回も新型コロナウイルスの影響により、休校や授業時間の短縮、オンラインでの授業など学校生活の変化や、発送に関しては国際郵便物の引受停止などがありました。このような状況下にもかかわらず、前回よりも応募数が増加し、意欲溢れる作品が多く送られてきたことに、大変感銘を受けております。 こどもたちの応募に対し、図画の指導者、ご協力いただいた世界の協同組合組織、学校および大使館関係者など、多くのみなさまに深く感謝申しあげます。 この作品集を目にした多くのこどもたちが、世界に視野を広げ、協力と友情の心を育むきっかけとなれば幸いです。
