審査講評（二次審査員）60The contest submission period opened when the whole world was in an unprecedented pandemic lockdown. I was concerned that many entries would express anxiety or a feeling of unease, but my fears were unwarranted. The exhibition was filled with children’s energetic artworks expressing good cheer and a sense of wellbeing. The kids were clearly handling the situation well and responding positively. I was overwhelmingly moved.However, the works expressed themes and techniques differing from those of previous years, such as less color in lithographs and A frank expression of today’s susceptibilities 新型コロナの猛威の中で募集が始まった今年。世界中がステイホームという未知を体験しました。不安感の強い絵ばかり届くのではないかと、危惧していました。 ところが。審査会場には、長いおうち時間を受け入れ、「元気だよ〜！」と言わんばかりに子どもたちが手を動かしている作品が広がっていました。どんなときも前を向いて過ごしていくその姿に圧倒され感動しました。 とはいえ、色数を絞った版画が増え、マスク姿の人が登場し……と子どもたちもひとりの歴史の目撃者として、時代の感受性をまっすぐ表現していたのだと気づくと、胸が熱くなりました。人類は太古の時代から、祈りのために絵を描いてきたことをあらためて思い出させてくれました。時代の感受性をまっすぐ表現結ゆう城き 昌まさ子こ美術の絵本作家YUKI MasakoAuthor of Art Picture Booksfrequent depiction of people wearing masks. This was a poignant demonstration of children’s roles as historical eyewitness, and represented a true expression of their sensibilities. It underlined how people continue to draw and paint as an expression of hope.
