I saw many unique works again at this year’s contest. I was surprised and impressed while viewing the works and wondered at times, “Why did the artist draw the face of this creature so up close?” or “Why did the artist use this color for the landscape?”On the other hand, I also realized that feelings such as affection for family, reverence for life, and impression when coming into contact with the mysteries of nature, are universal.I truly felt that regardless of where in the world, adults are responsible for watching over the children as they grow and seeing things from their perspective so that they will be able to retain their infinite power.Universal feelings of affection and impression　今回も個性豊かな作品が揃いました。「どうしてこの子はこの生き物の顔をどアップで描くのだろう？」「どうしてこの子はこの風景にこの色を使うのだろう？」と驚かされ、唸らされながら拝見していました。　その一方で、家族への愛情、命に対する崇敬の念、自然の神秘に触れたときの感動といった心情は万国共通だな、とも感じました。　世界中どこに住んでいても、子どもの持つ無限の力が大人になって失われることのないよう、これからも作者たちの成長を温かく見守り、彼らの心に寄り添ってゆく。これこそ大人の責務だと痛感しました。愛情や感動などの心情は万国共通神かみ代よ 浩ひろし東京国立近代美術館 館長Hiroshi KamiyoDirector-General National Museum of Modern Art, TokyoI listen closely to the children’s paintings from around the world. Then, I hear the wind from inside the painting. I hear the sound of waves from far away. Their loved ones and nature are innocently expressed. Children’s paintings teach us adults what is important as a human being.The subjects of their painting differ, but they are never expository. The works of art drawn with free lines and colors directly convey the passion and feelings better than professional paintings. Children’s paintings can be said to be “magical windows” which relativize stereotypes and systematic views.Children’s paintings are “Magical Windows”　世界の子どもたちの絵にそっと耳を澄ましてみます。すると、絵の向こう側から風が吹いてきます。波の音が、遠くから聞こえてきます。大好きな人や自然が、素朴に表現されています。子どもたちの絵は、人間にとって何が大切なものなのかを、我々大人たちに教えてくれるのです。　それぞれの絵の内容は異なっていますが、決して説明的ではありません。伸びやかな線や色で描かれた内容は、専門家の絵以上に思いや感情が見る側にストレートに伝わってきます。子どもたちの絵は、既成概念や制度的なものの見方を相対化してくれる「魔法の窓」といえるのかもしれません。子どもたちの絵は「魔法の窓」水みず島しま 尚なお喜き聖心女子大学 教授Naoki MizushimaProfessorUniversity of Sacred Heart, TokyoThis was my first time judging the World Children’s Picture Contest.I usually do not expect only wild freedom or innocence in children’s paintings. Various works of art were lined up at the judging venue, including beautifully colored paintings, well-structured paintings and rather technical paintings. They were a select group of unique and self-motivated works that passed the strict primary screening. I could see the efforts of the children from around the world as they sought how to use their creativity and express their thoughts. It was such a fun to genuinely judge a painting as a painting. I sincerely hope this contest will be held for many years to come. A contest where a painting is genuinely judged as a painting　今回初めて「世界こども絵画コンテスト」の審査に参加させていただきました。　私は日ごろから子どもの絵に野放図な自由さや無邪気さのみを期待することはありません。審査会場には様々な作品が並んでいました。色彩の美しい作品。構成の巧みな作品。いっそ技巧的だといえる作品。厳しい一次審査で正しく絞られた、個性的で自発的な厳選された作品群でした。どの国の子どもも表現に工夫を凝らし、どうやって言いたいことを伝えるか模索の跡が見えます。絵画を絵画として純粋に評価できるコンテストの審査は、とても楽しいものでした。このコンテストが末永く続くことを心から望んでおります。絵画を絵画として純粋に評価できるコンテスト海え老び 洋よう東京藝術大学 准教授Yo EbiAssociate ProfessorTokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music
